President's Message

" . $Name .",

On behalf of the children of La Yaguita de Pastor, Dominican Republic, I'd like to THANK YOU for your support of Project Mañana.

I cannot believe that today is finally here. After years of planning, praying, and dreaming...Project Mañana is now a reality. With our collective efforts, talents, and dedication, I believe that -- while we may not change the entire world – we WILL change many individual worlds.

Project Mañana was created as a tool for people who desire to help better the lives of impoverished children, their families, and communities. It's simple...just a group of ordinary people, working together today to achieve extraordinary results tomorrow.

Working Together Today For A Better Tomorrow™

Sincerely,

Brian Berman, Founder & President

Project Update

Construction began this month to covert (and renovate) one of the school's bathrooms into a kitchen. The kitchen will service the school and nutrition program (called Project Comida, meaning 'Food'); and offer a new stove, sink, and refrigerator. There will also be a pantry for food storage.

This project is the first in a series of planned renovations for the school. As funding allows, our goal is to create a true oasis for the students, teachers, and community.

My Story. Why I sponsor a Project Mañana Child.

When I learned about Project Mañana and was asked to be apart of it, I immediately knew that it was something that I needed/wanted to do. It was dedicated to an issue that I hold very dear to my heart. I love children and being a child is the time in life when we as human beings need to get as much education as possible. We need to be able to know how to live and how to grow in an ever-changing world. We need to be able to get the nourishment and skills that we need to survive. That is something that these kids in the Dominican don’t have the opportunity to have.

When I learned about the Project Mañana Private School, what it would hold inside, and how these kids would be able to really learn how to live fruitfully and healthily, I was immediately drawn to it and knew that it was something that I wanted to help out with.

Being a Christian in the entertainment industry is hard enough, but sometimes finding organizations that you agree on and are passionate about are even harder. You don’t just want to be apart of something just to be apart of it. So I am so thankful that I found Project Mañana.

I love helping out in any way that I can, giving back is very important to me, so this was definitely a great way to do that. Not only do I feel good about it, I also believe in the organization as well. As a Christian, not only is it the right thing to do, but it something we should automatically want to do. The bible states numerous times of how we should give back and help people in poverty, so let’s do it. Project Mañana is a great place to do it!

This organization is dedicated to bettering the lives of impoverished children, their families and communities through nutrition, education, and guidance. Those things seem like they should be automatic for anyone living in the world, but in reality, they aren’t. It’s our job to help these kids and their families out when and however we can, which is what I am doing.

I was so excited once I was in the process of picking and sponsoring a child. These kids are so young and for them to not have life’s necessities…well, it’s just so sad and heartbreaking for me to see. From the pictures, they are all so cute and innocent but in a way you can tell that there is something missing from there glow and I want to be one of the people to make that glow shine through even more. I chose Gedalias Estrella De La Cruz, a 4 year old boy.

I purposely picked a child who I didn’t see smiling because I wanted to see that change in the next picture he took. I can’t wait to meet him and let him know that everything will be all right…not to mention hangout with him at playtime! I’m a big kid at heart and all I want is to see these kids happy.

I can’t wait to watch this Project Mañana grow! With the help of all the donations and sponsors, there is no looking back – in fact, it’s only up from here! Through faith and prayer, I know Project Mañana will continue to grow and help the amazing children of the Dominican Republic. Then, hopefully, Project Mañana will spread to other countries in need in the future.

Please join me and help the children of the Dominican Republic. Sponsor a Child Today!

God Bless.

My Story. Why I sponsor a Project Mañana Child.

When I first logged onto Project Mañana’s website, I was immediately blown away by the beautiful little girl whose face graced the homepage. She had big beautiful eyes full of hope and innocence. I knew that this little girl as well as the other children featured on the homepage were struggling. Their families could not afford to give them proper nutrition each day or even send them off for a proper education. I knew immediately that I had to help. I felt convicted and compelled to help.

The more I read about Project Mañana, I began to realize that I had to do something to help make a difference in the life of at least one of these children. When I found out about the child sponsorship program, I jumped at the chance, knowing that I would be helping one of these little boys or girls to go to school, get an education and give them a chance at having a future.

There were so many bright, young children to choose from that I had a hard time making a selection. That’s when I came across Marleni, a vibrant four-year old little girl in need of a sponsor. Then it hit me; this was the very same little girl from the homepage whose eyes were so full of hope and joy. I was hooked immediately.

Every time I looked at Marleni’s picture, it reminded me of myself when I was about her age; she even looked like me. I felt like it was fate. As I began to read more about Marleni, I realized that she and I celebrate our birthdays on the same exact date. I couldn’t believe it. We also have the same favorite foods. I feel that in my heart that I was meant to sponsor this child and help to make a difference in her life. For just less than a dollar per day, I was able to change this child’s life and I couldn’t be happier. I feel like God provides us with blessings in disguise and I truly feel that I was meant to be her sponsor.

The feeling that I get inside of being able to give back is overwhelming. It gives me the greatest joy and happiness that I have ever experienced in my life. It’s kind of crazy how happy you can be in life when you are on the giving end instead of receiving. People often associate happiness with being given things but I am here to tell you that there is no greater feeling than being able to give to someone else knowing that you are making a positive change in their future. That is why I choose to give to Project Mañana.

The look on the faces of those children is enough to make any person’s heart melt. I was always raised to give. I definitely get that from my parents. I did not grow up with much and there were definitely times when my family struggled and people stepped in to help us out. It meant the world to me to see so many people willing to take a chance on someone else just to help make a difference in their lives. I was raised in a Christian-based household and values of giving to people, even at a young age, were instilled in me very early on. Seeing my own family struggle and having to deal with family members who live in Haiti who struggle every single day, it makes me so much more grateful and appreciative of everything I have.

I know that God has blessed me so much from where I have come from to where I am today that I have to able to share that with others. Marleni and other kids like her do not have to be a product of their environments. With our help and support, we can change the lives of all of these children. Every gesture, no matter how small, can make a great difference. We are here working together today for a better tomorrow. I challenge everyone to take a chance and help make a difference in the lives of these young boys and girls. They are our future and it is up to people like myself (and hopefully, you too) to make that difference.

Please join me in making a difference. Consider sponsoring a child or making a donation. You will not regret it.

Thank you, Project Mañana!

With Gratitude and Appreciation,

Meet Emmanuel Fernandez Espena -- an outgoing and fun boy attending pre-primary classes at Project Mañana's Private School.

By looking at Emmanuel's radiating smile, you would never know that this little boy, like many of the children from La Yaguita de Pastor, Dominican Republic has spent his whole life in poverty. He enjoys playing with his friends, and it seems to help take his mind off of his hungry stomach.

Often Emmanuel goes to bed without the necessary nutrients and sustenance for his developing body. He lives in a small, run-down home; which is over-crowded with his family. And, as one of the youngest children, he is often overlooked.

There is good news! Emmanuel is enrolled at the Project Mañana Private School, where he is guaranteed a private education and a nutritious meal, 5 days per week.

Additionally, Emmanuel has been partnered-up with an adult mentor to help guide him through everyday situations, questions, hopes, dreams, and fears.

Emmanuel is in desperate need of a sponsor and he would love it to be YOU!

Please visit Project Mañana's website to read more about Emmanuel and the other children in desperate need of sponsorship. You can easily sponsor a child online, by fax, or by mail.

 Project Mañana Needs Your Help!

Project Mañana is a non-profit 501(c)3 humanitarian organization dedicated to bettering the lives of impoverished children, their families and communities through nutrition, education, and guidance.

We achieve our goals through charitable donations and child sponsorship, which unites children in need with individual sponsors who wish to address the children's immediate and basic needs. Sponsorship gives poor children the tools and opportunities necessary for success by providing benefits and supporting programs for each child - primarily in the areas of education and nutrition.
