Issue 6, Vol. 1
 Serving In The Dominican Republic
August 2013

President's Message

Dear " . $Name .",

Saludos (Greetings)!

The month of July has probably been the busiest and most impactful month that Project Mañana has experienced since opening its doors in September 2010.

My family landed in the Dominican in early July and within 24 hours, we were moving full speed ahead to prepare for three summer interns and two mission trip teams -- the first of which would arrive in within 72 hours of our arrival.

Looking back on the last month, I'm so humbled to see what God has done in a few short weeks. Doors have been opened...and many new opportunities for partnership have surfaced. Please key an eye out for our September newsletter where we will make some big announcements.

The impact from the mission trip teams has caused a positive ripple throughout the communities where Project Mañana is serving and the families are so grateful for the Americans who came to serve them.

I'm so encouraged to see how God has allowed Project Mañana to reach (and bless) so many needy children and their families in the Dominican Republic.

On behalf of 225 (and growing!) Project Mañana children, their families, and community, THANK YOU for "Working Together Today For An Eternal Tomorrow!™"

Please visit Project Mañana's website for more information on how you can partner with Project Mañana; including child sponsorship.

Working Together Today For An Eternal Tomorrow™

Sincerely,

Brian Berman, Founder & President

Project Mañana Hosts Two Mission Teams in the Dominican

In July, Project Mañana had the pleasure of hosting two short-term mission teams.  The first team came from California and the second from Ohio/Pennsylvania.  Both teams spent a week in the Dominican and they made a huge impact.

Team 1

Jose Luis Amezquita (President, Equipping The Church International)
Mike Broyles (Executive Director, Awana Lifeline)
Luz Amezquita
Debbie Broyles

This team was comprised of executive leaders representing Equipping The Church International (ECI), Awana Lifeline, and Only Hope Prison Ministries.

During the trip, Project Mañana hosted a conference for more than 70 pastors, church leaders, and their wives. Pastor Jose Luis Amezquita was the presenter and focused a three-session agenda on how to pastor with a loving heart; while maintaining a bible-based theology.  During the conference Luz Amezquita was the presenter at a special session for women where she focused on “how to be a wife, mother, and church leader.”

Also during the trip, Project Mañana’s Dominican Prison Ministry Team had the opportunity to meet with Pastor Mike Broyles who shared curriculum and training techniques for chaplains working within the Dominican prison system.  Broyles also visited two prisons; where we spoke to more than 150 inmates as a special guest.

In between their speaking engagements and meetings, the team was able to visit Project Mañana’s school and nutrition center where they toured, played with the children, and helped pass out meals.

Based on this trip, Project Mañana is honored and excited to report that ECI and Only Hope Prison Ministries has committed to returning to the Dominican to continue to build relationships and provide much-needed resources.

• The week’s core verse was Proverbs 3:5 (there are now 400+ children who have this versed memorized!)
• Two bible messages were shared through drama (including costumes and backdrops): Daniel and Lion’s Den (Daniel 6) and Jesus Calms the Storm (Mark 4)

 Project Mañana Needs Your Help!

Project Mañana is a non-profit 501(c)3 humanitarian organization dedicated to bettering the lives of impoverished children, their families and communities through nutrition, education, and guidance.

We achieve our goals through charitable donations and child sponsorship, which unites children in need with individual sponsors who wish to address the children's immediate and basic needs. Sponsorship gives poor children the tools and opportunities necessary for success by providing benefits and supporting programs for each child - primarily in the areas of education and nutrition.
